Department

The BBC’s purpose is to enrich people’s lives with programmes and services that inform, educate and entertain. Our vision is to be the most creative organisation in the world. Business Continuity is vital to achieve this vision. For the licence payer to receive our programmes and services as intended, the Business Continuity strategy is to put the right framework in place to:

- Identify and mitigate the risks to the BBC’s programmes and services to an acceptable level;
- Protect our people, systems and infrastructure;
- Manage any disruption to minimise the effects

We are recruiting a Business Continuity Specialist to join our team, based in London. On call 24/7, the Business Continuity Unit coordinates the BBC's response to emergencies across the country in order to keep the BBC's key services to the public on air and on line.

Role

In this role, you'll manage specialist Business Continuity tools; systems; and reporting procedures and co-ordinate Divisional and corporate-wide events; workshops, rehearsals and exercises.  You will provide support to the BBC’s Incident Response arrangements in times of crisis and make sure the Business Continuity team is rehearsed and the Emergency Operations Centre is fully operational.  You will also be required to manage the Business Continuity pool of volunteers and co-ordinate and lead ad hoc projects.

Requirements

You will need to have excellent organising time management and prioritisation skills, with a highly developed ability to prioritise often conflicting demands and work on your own initiative.  You will need the resilience and ability to achieve objectives in the face of obstacles and conflicting demands and have a proactive, positive and creative approach to problem solving.  You will need a good understanding of the BBC and a willingness to learn about the role of the Business Continuity Unit. You will also need the ability to draft clear and concise reports and other professional documentation.
