Department

As Assistant Content Producer you will find working in the BBC Academy is challenging, demanding and highly rewarding. In such a dynamic environment, we take pride in being central to the BBCs mission to be the most creative organisation in the world; delivering content that achieves the highest possible journalistic, creative, production and technology standards. We also take very seriously the BBC’s commitment to help train the wider broadcasting industry.  This is an opportunity to create online learning that will benefit both the BBC and our partners in the independent sector. The courses will be delivered in time to coincide with the Academy’s new Learning Management System (LMS) that is due to go live early in 2014.

Role

We need you to be highly-organised and motivated, to help deliver new versions of two of the BBC’s mandatory online courses: Media Law and Production Safety. You’ll be producing multimedia content for the web, working towards more than one project simultaneously. Liaising between an external agency, freelance contractors and the Academy Producer, you’ll also organise filming, editing and other aspects of multimedia production under the direction of the Academy Producer.  You’ll research and write briefs and organise clearing rights. We’ll encourage you to contribute creative ideas for new online learning and contribute to other projects, as well as assisting with the repurposing of existing online training courses. You’ll also need to foster relationships between the Academy and the wider BBC in support of the strategy for network production outside London.

Requirements

We need your excellent communication skills and also your experience of online production. You’ll need an understanding of the principles of online learning and its role in the BBC. In addition, you’ll have experience of managing budgets (e.g. shoot and archive budgets) in accordance with BBC policy.  You’ll be able to work under pressure, to demanding deadlines and with demanding people, to the highest professional standards and also have a flexible approach to problem solving. As well as this, you’ll be committed to change and continuous improvement.
