Executive Director, Corporate Services, CMA

The Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills wishes to appoint an Executive Director, Corporate Services, along with four other senior executives to the new Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). The CMA will be established in October 2013 and will become fully functioning in April 2014. This is a rare opportunity to join a new organisation at an early stage, and to play a key role in its creation.
The CMA will bring together the Competition Commission with the competition and certain consumer functions of the Office of Fair Trading. The CMA will be responsible for promoting effective competition in markets across the UK economy and have a crucial and complementary consumer protection role. It will provide an essential service to business and consumers, operating with flexibility, speed and transparency.
The Executive Director, Corporate Services will build the business functions that will become the CMA’s operational hub. Working closely with the Chief Executive-designate Alex Chisholm and as a member of the CMA Board, the Director will provide strong organisational leadership across a range of functions to ensure that the corporate services team provides a first class service in a demanding and high-profile environment.
We are looking for candidates who have a strong track record in their field of expertise (likely to be finance, HR or IT), and have experience of delivering and embedding culture change and process improvement. You will have a strong capacity for strategic and analytical thinking, and will be able to work effectively at board level. As a strong and visible leader, you will be able to inspire and motivate staff, and will have a proven track record of delivering high-quality services.
