Regional Humanitarian Analyst , Turkey

The role
The MEE (Middle East and Eurasia region) Regional Humanitarian Analyst will be a master of intelligence in the area of geopolitics. As a member of the Humanitarian Affairs Unit and the Regional Analysts Network (RAN) they will research and produce reports on geopolitical, humanitarian and development issues, and analyse long and short-term challenges for Humanitarian Response situations in the Middle East and Eurasia region. The Regional Humanitarian Analyst will also prepare compelling briefs and written analyses as required.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal job description and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
Qualifications and experience
• Masters degree in international relations, political science, journalism, sociology or equivalent through experience.
• Experience in political analysis and conflict prevention.
• Solid professional experience in government, academia, international organisations, NGOs or journalism.
• Excellent writing, editing and analytical skills and ability to formulate well-targeted policy recommendations.
• Written and spoken fluency in English and Arab, proficiency in French and a fourth language preferred.
• Good knowledge of international humanitarian systems, institutions and donors.
• Ability to work in a matrix management environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including good public presentation skills, and a very strong capacity for effective teamwork.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and often demanding environment.
• Commitment to Save the Children values.
• Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours in the event of major emergencies including travelling at short notic e and for extended periods of time.
