Regional Campaigns & Communications Manager ,Mexico

Oxfam works with others in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) to overcome poverty and injustice. Our focus is on empowering people to demand and exercise their rights. An effective policy, campaigns and communications strategy has a crucial part to play. You’ll be the driving force behind it.
The role In this high profile role, you’ll do all you can to maximise the impact of Oxfam’s work in LAC. That means working across Oxfam to develop a campaign and communications strategy that meets the needs of the region, and Oxfam’s global vision too. It means leading research, policy, public campaign and communication efforts for the region – looking at ensuring that Oxfam plays an influential role at national and regional levels, alongside our partners and allies. You’ll be strengthening Oxfam’s position as a thought leader on poverty, on social and gender justice and sustainability. Embracing social media, you’ll help us engage with and build up our communities, raising our voice and making an impact along the way. So it’ll be up to you to review and build organisational objectives to help raise our voice – shaping ideas and beliefs as well as influencing public policies to overcome inequalities and injustice in the region. And as you would expect at this level, you’ll do more than oversee the operational side of things. You’ll also motivate and coach the campaigns and communications team – taking a proactive approach to developing their ability, and ultimately helping build an agenda for change in LAC.
What we’re looking for Coming from a background in campaigns and policy work, you’ll bring extensive knowledge of the industry and a solid understanding of international poverty and economic development – particularly that affecting Latin America and the Caribbean. Practiced in all things media and communication, you’ll be aware of the national and global mass media and have no problem adapting your efforts to a changing environment. While your ability to think strategically means you’ll offer sound judgement across a far-reaching decision-making process. Confident liaising at a country and regional level as you are on a global one, your communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills will be second to none. And it’s absolutely vital that you’re a strong leader whose commitment to social justice shines through, and you’re confident building collaborative relationships, both directly and indirectly, right across the organisation.
About Oxfam A simple, inescapable truth underlines everything we do at Oxfam. There’s enough wealth in this world to go around. It’s not unfortunate that people live in poverty. It’s unjustifiable. It’s not just their problem. It’s ours too. And with the right support, we can beat poverty and injustice. Thousands of people already commit their time and talents to our campaigning, humanitarian and long-term development projects. Now we’re looking for yours.
