The role

We are currently seeking a talented Team Leader - Structures to lead and grow our structures group in Brisbane and Northern Region.
With a minimum of 8 years commercial experience in details, you will play a key role in:
  • BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND MARKETING: Developing the SMEC Australia brand in the Northern Region market as a top-class, high quality, specialist provider of structure design services, especially in bridges.
  • TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP: Lead and undertake structural analysis for design projects of structures or requiring structural inputs. Direct professional staff and review work undertaken at SMEC for technical soundness. Undertake mentoring and training of junior staff on project work, prepare and present in-house seminars, etc.
  • PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Manage complex, multi-disciplinary commercial projects. Monitor financial and technical aspects of projects and provide regular financial and progress reports, while ensuring projects are completed on time.
With a track record of achievement in a similar role, you will have gained your experience in an engineering design consultancy and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work.
Suitable applicants will have/be:
  • 8 years professional experience with demonstrated knowledge and experience in structures for large infrastructure projects.
  • Good working knowledge of Project Management and QA procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and superior report-writing competencies.
  • Proven capability in managing a team of multidisciplinary technical specialists.
  • Undergraduate degree qualifications in civil and/or structural engineering. CPEng and a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (or ability to obtain).
