The Organisation
QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets.
We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel. QGC, which is wholly owned by the British energy company BG Group, employs more than 4,300 staff and contractors. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Position Summary
The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating the field environmental activities to assist the Upstream QCLNG Project Management team to meet and exceed environmental compliance commitments.
The incumbent will be required to interact with all project and operational sites, including the well sites, gathering and flow pipelines, field compression, water processing facilities, ponds, access roads and other associated facilities and will provide relevant environmental and legislative advice to support to the Upstream Project. The role will also be responsible for communicating QGC’s environmental obligations that may impact the business including the EIS. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Key Accountabilities
Core Accountabilities
Position Specific• Apply existing management procedures and policies in coordination with Management of Environment Operations • Develop compliance inspection schedules for demonstration of compliance with Approvals and Environmental Management Plans for Operations in consultation with the Environment Compliance and Audit team and HSSE Superintendent. Use existing tools to manage this progress – e.g. WMS • Lead the development and implementation of ISO14001 compliant environmental systems at the site level • Preparation of weekly, monthly and annual reports on the environmental performance of the role’s area of responsibility • Develop and maintain excellent SEWPaC/DERM/DEEDI relationships • Development, implementation and maintenance of environmental processes, procedures, reporting and monitoring practices that are in line with company objectives • Provide input to Environmental Management Plans for Project and Operations activities • Ensure contractors are briefed and compliant with environmental and relevant regulatory programs through development of a simple induction and/or on boarding program • Assist corporate management to develop and deliver environmental regulatory programs • Assist the QGC Field Management Team ensure QGC’s Project and Operations are compliant with environmental and relevant regulatory requirements • Liaison with the other Project and Operational Environment Team to ensure equipment and processes being delivered are compliant with the strategy and the goals set out in the EIS People Management• Facilitate the training of contractors on environmental requirements for Project sites • The incumbent must adhere to the annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes Health Safety Security and Environment (HSSE)• Promote an environmentally aware culture to contractors and staff throughout QGC on site • Every individual has a duty to both themselves and those around them to ensure that safe practice is adhered to at all times. In addition to any specific accountabilities for HSSE, all managers are accountable for HSSE within their area of the Business and are responsible for ensuring that their team adopt exemplary HSSE behaviors • All QGC employees must adhere to the Business Principles at all times under Conduct, Our People, Society and HSSE and to participate in relevant training | ||||||||||||||||||||||
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Needed
• Oil and Gas Industry experience, particularly related to large construction projects
• Environmental Approval and compliance experience relevant to the Oil & Gas industry • Wide experience in a related role, including construction environmental management experience • Proven experience in supervising and motivating employees
Knowledge, Languages,
Skills and Attributes • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental, Science, Engineering or related fields • Specialist knowledge of environmental issues pertinent to the energy industry • Proven management skills • Sound regulatory knowledge • Excellent written and communication skills with proven ability to engage a range of different audiences • Professional report writing skills • Ability to solve complex problems • Contribute to development of a environmental awareness team culture • Ability to interface with and lead personnel and contractors • Ability to effectively build relationships with a variety of stakeholders including, staff, contractors and external suppliers
Special Features• Ability to undertake domestic travel
