Job Summary

The Market Development Facility (MDF), an Australian Government, AusAID-funded initiative, aims to:
  • Create additional employment and income earning opportunities for poor women and men through broad-based and sustainable pro-poor growth.
  • Make rural and urban sectors of the economy in which the poor are involved as producers and workers, more competitive and make them grow.
  • Trigger lasting, systemic changes in the markets systems around these sectors to reduce constraints to growth and to increase their capacity to innovate and deal with competitive, regulatory, social and environmental pressures, so that the benefits for the poor will sustain and expand in time.
 
MDF is a multi-country facility, currently operational in Fiji, Timor-Leste and Pakistan.

Key Responsibilities

MDF is currently seeking Registrations of Interest from suitably experienced and qualified experts with one or more of the following skills.
  • Sector Analysis and Sector Strategy Design;
  • Assessments of market demand and growth projections, techno-economic feasibility studies and / or development and assessment of business plans;
  • Results Measurement as per DCED guidelines;
  • Communication of program approaches, strategies and results for various audiences;
  • Capacity building in the fields of M4P and Results Measurement as per DCED guidelines;
  • Agricultural research with familiarity with a broad range of cash crops;
  • Facilitating export market access and related regulations (such as biosecurity/quarantine).
  • Complex research capturing changes in economic behaviour of multiple players within a sector;
  • Poverty analysis and identification of pathways out of poverty through economic growth; and/or,
  • Gender analysis and identification of pathways for gender mobility through economic growth.
Successful candidates will add to MDF’s current panel of pre-qualified Market Development Specialists.
 
Specialists may be called upon to provide in-country support services for MDF activities in Fiji, Timor-Leste and or Pakistan.
 
The Market Development Specialists may be responsible for the coordination, direction, implementation, execution, control, and completion of specific activities, ensuring compliance with the goals and objectives of the MDF.
