Professor and Director - Institute for Asia and Asian Studies

The University of Notre Dame invites applications for the Director of the newly established Institute for Asia and Asian Studies. The Institute is envisioned to advance new academic programs and research initiatives in Asian studies, enhance the University's collaborations with strategic partners in Asia, and develop Notre Dame's distinctive engagement with Asia and Asian Studies within an interdisciplinary and global context. The Institute will complement the University's other major internationally focused institutes, including the Kellogg Institute for International Studies and the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, and work in close collaboration with the colleges and academic departments.
The Director will provide strong academic leadership and vision to ensure the successful establishment and development of the Institute. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent in a relevant discipline in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Law, or Business, possess an excellent record of research and teaching related to Asia, and have demonstrated academic leadership. Candidates with an interdisciplinary focus on China in a trans-national and global context are preferred.
Candidates must have a record of scholarly achievement that warrants appointment as a tenured full professor in an academic department at Notre Dame.
