Background/General description

Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Director, DFA the Senior Analyst will be responsible for making a significant contribution to the financial analysis activities of the Department. The Senior Analyst will provide independent financial analysis to several key departments and is actively involved in the project implementation, monitoring and recovery stages of the project ensuring accurate, timely and high quality work.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Business Management Accountabilities:
  • Performs financial analysis of the proposed operation;
  • Provides an opinion of the financial eligibility of the proposed operation;
  • Prepares/analyzes the financial forecast, to determine the potential profitability and viability of complex operation;
  • Participates in the structuring and negotiating of operations;
  • Prepares and submits the financial analysis reports
  • Determines and recommends appropriate financial covenants to be included in the legal documentation;
  • Participates at Credit Committee and Board of Directors’;
  • Attends meetings with clients and/or members of the Operation Team;
  • Analyzes financial information of the existing operations and provides an opinion of their financial performance for the monitoring period;
  • Monitors compliance with financial covenants as outlined in the Legal Documentation;
  • Provides opinions on waivers, amendments, consents and notices;
  • Performs on-site visits during the monitoring of the operation;
  • Provides financial analysis opinion to other departments of the BSTDB;
  • Participates as a member of the recovery team for non-performing assets.
Relationship Management Accountabilities (Internal and External):
  • Liaises and maintains high level relationships with counterparties in other international entities and within the BSTDB;
  • Works closely with BSTDB support units and other related parties.
  • Participates in the promotion of the BSTDB’s activities.
Undertakes other relevant tasks that may be assigned by the Director, DFA and as may be required by the policies of the BSTDB.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • University degree, preferably at the postgraduate level in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field;
  • Minimum five, preferably eight years of relevant experience with at least three years as financial or credit analyst;
  • Experience dealing with projects/operations and knowledge of the financial sectors of countries of operations is an advantage;
  • Knowledge and understanding of the business and financial sectors of the bank’s member countries;
  • Knowledge of certain specific investment sectors/activities (e.g. trade, energy, oil and gas, telecommunications, bank, etc.);
  • Good understanding and application of processes, systems;
  • Proficiency in analyzing corporate, financial and non-financial institutions;
  • Ability to deal with different type of banking operations (i.e. loans, project finance, bank-to-bank loans, equity transactions, etc);
  • Ability to gather, interpret and assess data to produce relevant reports and provide an opinion;
  • Strong analytical skills;
  • Good knowledge of credit analysis; ability to interpret accounts, with a good conceptual knowledge and understanding of accounting principles of international practices;
  • Financial analysis skills including the ability to design financial models;
  • Ability to calculate financial ratios to determine the financial viability of an operation;
  • Ability to determine problematic areas and provide constructive solutions;
  • Ability to foster close and effective cooperation across divisions/departments, and between different level of staff;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to successfully interact with a variety of people in a multicultural environment;
  • Demonstrated effective time management and ability to prioritize, plan own work and maintain high productivity to meet tight deadlines;
  • Consistently approaching work with energy and a positive and constructive attitude;
  • Client focus and service understanding;

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English;
  • Solid computer skills;
  • Experience in the region of the BSTDB’s operations is an advantage;
  • Experience in an international financial institution is an advantage.
