Brand Home Guide - Blair Athol

Brand Homes are located at distilleries which produce high quality malt whisky which is marketed as a single malt or is utilised as a key ingredient in Diageo’s portfolio of blended whisky brands

Brand Homes provide strategic marketing support to key brands through planned activities agreed with both the Diageo brand team and external marketing specialists


Operations carried out on the sites include: Distillation, Co-products e.g. Pot Ale Syrup, Bio-plants, Warehousing.

The distilleries are generally located in small communities. There is, therefore a requirement to be proactive in participating in community activities and promoting the brand(s) in the community

Within Malt Distilling Diageo ISC there is a focus on World Class practices and the effective management of change to achieve this goal

Statutory and Diageo regulations and management systems must be understood and complied with


About the Role

This is a proactive role whose main purpose is to present the key quality messages relating to the whisky making process and brand or brands to visitors in an interesting and informative manner.


This is a customer focused role with the main purpose being to give the paying public a fantastic distillery experience through conducting tours of the site. Guides are expected to be energetic and approachable and able to adapt to the variety of people who will visit the site. 

This role will also support the Brand Home Manager in all aspects of managing the Brand Home facility and will require out of normal hours working. Please note this is a Part Time position,

Key Responsibilities;
 
  • Ensure a high level of customer care by welcoming, leading, informing and enthusing visitors during the tour of the distillery and brand reception area
  • Work closely with the Brand Home Manager and Lead Guide to fully develop the Brand Home’s role in promoting the key brands
  • Demonstrate a high level of retail skills in order to maximise sales
  • Ensure Brand Home operations comply with all statutory requirements and Diageo standards, eg HMRC, Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, Local Licensing Authority regulations etcx
  • Frequent contact with Site Manager, Site Operations Manager and Brand Homes Manager to review Brand Home activities and performance issues.
Qualifications and Skills Required
  • Educated to Higher standard or equivalent
  • Catering/food hygiene qualification required, where appropriate
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a flexible organisation
  • Willing to work towards achieving a Certificate in Visitor Attraction Operations
  • Willing to work towards achieving a General Certificate in Distilling
  • Experience in Customer Facing and/or a Retail Environment
  • Languages an advantage but not an necessity
  • Current Clean Driving License a necessity
  • Team Working and Organisational Skills required.
