Description

Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft LLP, a preeminent international law firm, is currently seeking a dynamic, energetic and resilient legal secretary/personal assistant to support a busy international team in the Schuman area of Brussels.

As a Legal Secretary at Cadwalader you will work directly for the managing partner and provide general secretarial support to the legal team. You will work on high profile/leading cases.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Ability to prioritise work effectively across a number of fee earners is essential;
  • Diary and email management;
  • Meeting organisation;
  • Preparing materials such as correspondence, documents, e-mails etc.;
  • Answering the phone/taking messages;
  • Assisting fee earners with new business intake (setting-up of new clients/matters);
  • Assisting fee earners with timesheets;
  • Printing, scanning, organizing, transcribing, and distribution of documents upon request;
  • Creation and formatting of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents;
  • Travel arrangements and processing expenses;
  • Preparing client invoices.

Essential skills and experience

  • English native speaker or near-native level English language skills. French or other European languages a definite asset;
  • Prior relevant experience at a law firm is a plus;
  • The Secretary must have well developed and professional interpersonal skills and have the ability to work in a team environment with a customer service focus;
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Word and other MS Office products;
  • Strong written, interpersonal and oral and written communication skills;
  • Must be capable of working on own initiative.
The candidate must have an existing right to work as an employee in Belgium. Candidates who do not hold an EEA citizenship should only apply if they already hold a Belgian immigration status which allows them to be employed in Belgium on a permanent employment contract, and should explain their immigration status clearly in their application.
