Reporting Analyst - Audited Circulation

The Economist circulation business is responsible for overseeing the global circulation strategy for The Economist as its markets transition from print to digital formats.
The purpose or the role is preparing and completing the audited circulation reporting for internal use and to be presented to third parties, such as media and auditing bodies (i.e. Audit Bureau of Circulation - ABC, Alliance for Audited Media - AAM). The successful candidate will report to the Director of Financial Modelling and Analysis and will complete the reporting cycles efficiently, accurately and independently with minimal supervision. He/she will also prepare month end schedules and continually identify areas for process improvement.
In this role you will be expected to:
  • Prepare and complete submissions for audited circulation reporting Ensure that ABC/AAM rules and guidelines are adhered to and escalate where appropriate Deal with internal and external audit requests Review current process and implement changes to improve efficiency Support the Senior Marketing Analyst and provide cover when required Undertaking ad hoc projects as required
Main Areas: 

Bulks and Newsstand for The Economist, 1843 and The World In
  • Maintain the various Regional Audit workbooks
  • Collect and validate the contractual paperwork
  • Reconcile the workbooks with the Distributors reports pre ABC submission
  • Update and distribute monthly newsstand covers report
  • Preparation of the prior period adjustment files for inclusion in the submission
  • Collect and validate the sample documents chosen by the Auditor at time of Audit (Contracts, Delivery notes, invoices, credit notes, handling fee invoices & payments)
Subscriptions
  • Prepare AAM biannual subscription submission for North America
  • Prepare and complete monthly AMM Rapid Reports for North America
  • Create the audit file for 1843 (by  issue and edition) ensuring that the BAR calculation is applied according to the ABC rules
  • Collect and validate the sample documents chosen by the auditor at time of audit
  • Audited circulation submission for 1843 and The World In
  • Manage end-to-end processes for 1843 and The World In, including review of subscriptions, bulks, newsstand, premia, print orders, mailing lists and audit support. 
  • Circulation Reporting
  • Produce and circulation weekly and monthly reports for the Circulation and Advertising
  • Liaise with regional and marketing teams to validate assumptions prior to submission
  • Ensure the business understands and is updated with ABC/AMM regulations
  • Identify areas for process improvement

  • To succeed in the role you must have:
    • Significant experience in complex organisations, ideally in accounting or audit roles in multimedia environments
    • High levels of numeracy
    • Great attention to detail
    • Strong organisational skills
    • Excellent communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate both internally and externally. Persuasive in the presentation of analysis, trends and results.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including pivot tables, charting and powerpoint
    • Experience with circulation reporting and audits (i.e. ABC / AAM) a plus
    • Experience with Qlikview and circulation models a plus
