OPENING FOR CONSULTANCY: ENSURING RECOGNITION OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE AS A TOOL OF CONFLICT IN THE NEPAL PEACE BUILDING PROCESS THROUGH DOCUMENTATION AND PROVISION OF COMPREHENSIVE SERVICES TO WOMEN AND GIRL VICTIMS/SURVIVORS

Under the supervision and coordination with the gender programme office contributes to the implementation of the UNFPA funded components of an inter-agency project relating to documentation of sexual violence, including administration, implementation, monitoring and the evaluation of programme/project activities.

DURATION: 6 months

LOCATION: Kathmandu, Nepal

EXPECTED OUTPUTS:
• Overall management of the project;
• Collaborate and coordinate with relevant departments of the Ministry of Health and Population, National Women's Commission, Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare, Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction, and National Human Rights Commission regarding the project;
• Provide technical guidance to partners to ensure quality of delivery of services and training;
• Identify gaps and support capacity building activities implementing partners for quality delivery of services;
• Maintain a day-to-day functional liaison with the project team including relevant staffs of UNICEF;
• Conduct monitoring and supervision visits to the field and report on progress;
• Ensure quality of project report including timely feedback to implementing partners reports and timely submission of project reports to the UNFP;
• Manage the financial administration of the project in close consultation with the administration and finance teams of UNFPA and UNICEF.

Qualifications and Experience

• Advanced degree in International Relations, Gender Studies, Social Science, Development Studies, or relevant field;
• At least 2 years professional work experience in sexual and gender based violence including data collection and analysis;
• Developed knowledge of and experience with sexual and gender based monitoring and report mechanism;
• Proven skills in analysis, negotiations and leadership;
• Drafting skills and experience in the timely submission of monitoring reports;
• Demonstrated commitment to humanitarian principles and to UN mandates;
• Demonstrated capacity to work in an inter-agency and multi-cultural/linguistic team;
• Human rights background would be considered an advantage.
• The Project Manager must have a good understanding of women, peace and security issues (as per UNSCRs 1325, 1820, 1888 and 1889) as well as excellent management, coordination, inter-personal, as well as monitoring skills, a broad development perspective, networking capabilities, strategic thinking abilities, and ability to work in team.
