The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated individual to develop, manage and oversee Brooke’s country programme in Ethiopia within a new three year country programme strategy (2011-2014) aiming at sustainably improving health and husbandry practices that cause poor equine welfare. You will lead the development and implementation of a partnership and influencing policy to raise the profile of equine welfare with government, NGOs’ and other institution’s programmes, and to promote the links between equines and people’s livelihoods. You will lead and develop a national team and will work closely with staff in our UK office as you represent the Brooke, its mission and values to key persons in government and NGOs within Ethiopia and East African region.

Criteria

You will need to have significant experience and proven success in international programme management, knowledge in the field of animal health and production, service delivery, and/or livestock development. You will have excellent team management skills to manage a diverse multi-cultural team, relevant experience in developing and leading a large and complex programme, leading and managing change and growth, and using programme experience and research findings to influence various stakeholders. You will have excellent communication skills in English and an ability to communicate succinctly with a wide range of individuals from government representatives and potential partners to beneficiaries at grassroots level.
