The legal and Human Right Centre (referred to herein by its acronym as LHRC or simply as the centre)is a not – for profit, on-partisan and non-governmental human rights organization founded and registered in 1995 envisioning a just and equitable society. The centre is hereby applicants to fill the vacancies of Librarian and for driver as for terms and conditions stipulated herein below:

Job Title: Librarian
Reports To: Director of finance and Administraration

Duty station: LHRC Head office-kijitonyama, Dar es Salaam.

a) JOB PURPOSE

Under the supervision of the Director of finance and Administration the librarian will be specializes in one of three aspects of library work: user technical or administrative services.Guiding and assisting the user with library services. The librarian has to understand the need of the user and suggest the information that will fulfil the user’s (staff or visitors)needs.Techinal services are the acquisition,preparation,classification and cataloging the available material new library visitors and staff searches more manageable and to date.Administrative services involve management and planning of the informative material available in the library.

b) KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

i. To maintain books and ICT equipments at the documentation centre located at the HQ and other sub offices

ii. To update the documentation centre with the newly-released publications from other institutions and academic institutions

iii. To manage budget; in the requisitions of material for the library and classifies library materials so that they will be found on the library’s shelves and computer system.




i. To promote to the use of the library through displays talks, and community events when invited, which may involve work in the library or going out into the society/institutors through workshop, papers presented.

ii. To assist library visition and other users in accessing ICT.like the use of internet

iii. To make follow up of regional and international instruments and arrange exchange linkages to source relevant documents and other materials for LHRC programming.

iv. To manage the documentation centre for the LHRC (Source documents required by the programmes of LHRC,complile an index of all materials in the documentation centre and ensure the security of all documents)

v. Establish a system of capturing and disseminating all information generated the LHRC activities (including training reports, workshop, papers presented at workshops) are prepare monthly quarterly and annual reports relates to library.

vi. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
(c) QULIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

i. Diploma or advanced studies in library science.

ii. At least 3 years experience as a librarian
iii. Information Computing Technology (up date on latest computer technology);and

iv. Human Right and Gender awareness.
v. Excellent oral and written English and Kiswahili.

JobTitle:Driver
Reports To: Human Resource Officer

Duty station: Legal and Human Rights Centre, HQ Dar es Salaam.

(a)JOB PURPOSE

Under the supervision of the human resources office, the position focuses on providing transport services to meet operations requirements of LHRC programmes and administration. The Driver will be needed to travel out of the work station when it is needed.

(b)Specific Duties

i. Driver for programme activities at HQ and other areas outside Dar es Salaam
ii. To complete the log book for each trip and report when service mileage is reached.
iii. To receive LHRC official guests from the airport and from other offices the country
iv. To keep the motor vehicle clean and in running condition at all times.
v. To participate in fact-finding mission with other staff in the field.
vi. To carry out messenger duties when required including the following:
vii. Deliver and collect letter and documents as required

viii. Pay electicity and damage telephone bills
ix. To report any loss of loos or damage to the vehicle
x. To perform any other duties as assigned by the human resources officer.
(c)Qualification requirements

i. Form IV certificare education
ii. Driver’s license class c

iii. Gender sensitive and

iv. More than 5 years working experience.
(d) Key competencies

i. Mechanical aptitude including some basic knowledge of vehicles
ii. Ability to speak English, Kiswahili and other local languages

iii. Ability to read and write
