VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT



JOB TITLE: Transport Officer
PROJECT: Multiple; 6 months contract (renewable)
DUTY STATION: Aweil, Northern Bahr el Ghazal
REPORTING TO: Logistic Supervisor
STARTING DATE: End of February 2011



The Norwegian Refugee Council is an independent humanitarian organization. Our task is to improve international protection of refugees and internally displaced persons, and to offer humanitarian assistance regardless of race, nationality or political views. Our efforts are founded on the principle that all human beings are entitled to a life in peace, liberty, safety and equality, as this is expressed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. NRC has been working in Sudan since 2004, our current programmes include Education, Shelter, Food security and ICLA.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Preparation of monthly carpool reports of all vehicles and submission to Logistic Supervisor
• Preparation of the weekly vehicles planning
• Arrangement of vehicles for field visits
• Proactive on vehicle maintenance.
• Keeping the base operations room aware of your location at all times by radio and phone.
• Intelligent reaction to unexpected events, including basic first aid and quick decision making.
• Maintenance of vehicle log and documentation.
• Checking and maintenance of med kit and emergency equipment.
• Preventive vehicle maintenance as directed in regulations, including cleaning;
• To undertake errands as requested;
• To assist purchase officer in procurement of vehicles spare parts;
• To assist mechanics repair NRC vehicles;
• To undertake any other tasks assigned from time to time;
• To be able to travel to any state/part of South Sudan.

Nb: By vehicles means (cars and motorbikes)
Qualifications and Experience:
• Completion of secondary or high school, and current driving license;
• Basic English speaking and understanding skills;
• 3 to 5 years driving experience in cities and on highways;
• Off road or truck driving experience an advantage;
• Knowledge of vehicle repair is an advantage;
• Must be very familiar with Northern Bahr el Gazal and Warrap states and other states;
• Computer literacy is required
