The SEACEN Centre seeks an outstanding and experienced leader as its next Executive Director.

Housed in an ultra-modern facility in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, the SEACEN Centre represents a learning and research collaboration of 17 central banks and monetary authorities from the Asia-Pacific region. Established in 1982, the Centre has provided learning and research opportunities to generations of central bankers. Many of the region’s top central bankers have attended SEACEN learning events at some point in their careers. The SEACEN Centre has also forged strong working relationships among the regional central banks, particularly by facilitating forums for important issues among its members. In conducting its learning and research activities, the Centre relies on partnerships and collaboration with central banks in the region and from outside the region, as well as international multilateral and private organisations. The focus of the learning and research is in the areas of Macroeconomic and Monetary Policy Management; Financial Stability and Supervision; Payment and Settlement Systems; Leadership and Governance; and Central Bank Management. The Centre aspires to be a hub for learning and research in core central banking functions and to provide thought leadership on issues affecting its member central banks.

Job Description

Reporting to the SEACEN Executive Committee and SEACEN Board of Governors, the successful candidate is expected to provide visionary leadership in raising the profile of the SEACEN Centre as a leading regional centre for learning and research in central banking. Leveraging on subject matter experts in the Centre and the member central banks as well as through a network of collaborators, the Executive Director is expected to deliver high-impact and relevant learning and research to SEACEN members. He or she will be expected to undertake organisational development and align operational efficiency to maximise the value of the budgetary contributions of member central banks. This high-profile position will require the Executive Director to interact with the senior management of member central banks and international partners.

Desirable Attributes

The candidate must have graduate qualifications in monetary economics, international finance or other fields relevant to central banking. He or she must have experience in a leadership position in a central bank, the financial sector, a multilateral organisation or academia. Candidates with extensive experience in overseeing learning and research programmes will have a distinct advantage. He or she must have a positive and collaborative leadership style that motivates and inspires performance and excellence.

Outstanding communication skills in the English language and being highly result-centric are also essential.
