Overseas Research Fellow in Health Systems and Policy Analysis

London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine - Faculty of Public Health & Policy

We are seeking an enthusiastic Research Fellow to join the Communicable Diseases Policy Research Group, Department of Global Health and Development, based in Thailand, to work on a project entitled "Surge in demand for health services: evaluating health system impact and capacity to respond in countries with limited resources". The post holder will be expected to contribute specifically to the development of a new conceptual and analytical framework to evaluate health system surge capacity, and the application of the framework in pilot study areas in Indonesia. The post holder will also contribute to the development of user-friendly software to enable local policy makers to estimate resource needs and gaps according to various scenarios.

We are looking for an applicant, to start as soon as possible, with a background in health systems and policy analysis, or related discipline, with experience in both qualitative and quantitative research. As the project will involve development and simulation of surge scenarios, experience with mathematical modelling and/or programming is also desirable (but not essential).

There will be opportunities to contribute to other related projects within the group and develop further research, as well as opportunities for teaching experience, according to the applicant's experience and interests. The successful applicant will be based in SE Asia for the duration of the grant, and will need to be able to travel between the research partners.

The post is full-time for 15 months. Salary will be on the School's National salary for research fellow scale £32,025-£36,863 per annum inclusive and will be subject to LSHTM overseas terms and conditions.
