Chief of Party, Ghana

We are currently seeking a Chief of Party for an anticipated large, multiyear food security and nutrition initiative in northern Ghana, likely based in Tamale. The project will complement Feed the Future goals to accelerate inclusive agricultural growth and improve nutritional status. Project interventions will focus on reducing poverty and increasing the resiliency of the very poor in selected districts.

Responsibilities:

  • Assume responsibility for overall program management of the project.
  • Provide technical leadership, oversight and support to all aspects of the program.
  • Manage all project staff and consultants.
  • Draft and finalize reports for the client (USAID), including contractual and technical reports, in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that activities, expenses and reporting comply with USAID rules and regulations, as well as ACDI/VOCA internal policies.
  • Ensure quality control and timeliness of all deliverables.
  • Prepare or supervise the preparation of work plans and financial, logistical and other program documents.
  • Serve as principal liaison with USAID staff, government and private sector institutions, and client country partners to exchange information and develop professional relationships.
  • Maintain direct contact with ACDI/VOCA home office.


Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in agriculture, food sciences or public health (or related field)
  • Minimum of seven years as Chief of Party on food security or nutrition projects of at least $15 million
  • Demonstrated experience building capacity of local NGOs
  • Demonstrated expertise in USAID rules and regulations, especially with regard to managing USAID contracts
  • Strong understanding of internationally accepted best practices in food security and nutrition
  • Strong interpersonal skills with evidence of ability to build relationships with a wide range of organizations (government, private sector, NGOs and research institutions)
  • Strong written and spoken English skills
