Coordinator, Malaria & Child Survival

PSI seeks entrepreneurial, dynamic and creative candidates with an interest in private sector approaches to development for the position of Coordinator, Malaria and Child Survival. The Coordinator is a key member of the Malaria and Child Survival Team whose mission is to deliver high-quality, demand-driven services to PSI’s field programs, helping to ensure technical integrity and programmatic success. This position is based in Washington DC and entails approximately 10% overseas travel.

RESPONSIBILITES: The Coordinator is responsible for supporting PSI’s Malaria and Child Survival (MCSD) Team, reporting to the team’s Program Manager. Responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the review of contractual documents and/or program budgets across MCSD’s centrally funded projects (ACT Watch, CIDA, MCHIP and DELIVER)
  • Provide financial management support including preparation and tracking of project budgets, annual budgets, invoices, donor reports and MCSD labor in coordination with the PM and FA.
  • Manage and distribute MCSD reference materials for meetings and conferences with external partners as needed;
  • Prepare and/or edit presentations for MCSD
  • Assist with travel arrangements for MCSD staff including helping to secure visas for urgent travel, making hotel reservations, conference reservations and airport pick-up for visitors to D.C.
  • Own the MCSD knowledge management agenda through the collation of key programmatic and technical materials and ensuring their dissemination through the management of the MCSD KIX, webpage and Socialcast content.
  • Assist R&M with data collection for developing and updating MCSD metric models;
  • Research selected topics, particularly health, marketing, or communications topics as requested by MCSD to assist in development of concept notes and other new business opportunities.
  • Serve as the MCSD liaison to the Corporate Marketing and Communications Department to provide timely responses to requests for information and coordinating MCSD’s presence at domestic and international conferences
  • Supervise and direct work flow of MCSD intern;
  • Fulfill other programmatic and administrative functions as required.


Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject (Public Health, International Development.) or equivalent experience
  • At least two years of prior work experience; preferably in the non-profit/international development sector
  • Prior experience with major public health donors required
  • Proficiency in word processing, excel spreadsheet software; and
  • Fluency in French, Spanish or Portuguese highly preferred.

The successful candidate will have excellent writing, analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and cross-cultural skills; demonstrated ability to perform and prioritize a variety of tasks on short notice within designated deadlines; and an interest in future overseas posting with PSI.

Preference will be given to candidates with private sector experience in marketing, communications, or advertising; familiarity with international health issues (particularly malaria and child health); knowledge of USAID and the international donor community; and an interest in private sector approaches to development.
