MULTINATIONAL MALAWI/MOZAMBIQUE/ZAMBIA: Nacala Road Corridor Feasibility Studies, Engineering Design, Bidding documents and development of Legal Frameworks for the Malawi/Zambia and Mozambique/Malawi One Stop Border Posts.

REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

This Invitation for Expressions of Interest (EOI) follows the General Procurement Notice for this project, which appeared on the UNDB Online on 15 March 2012.

The Governments of Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia through the SADC Secretariat have received a Grant from the African Development Bank managed by the NEPAD-Infrastructure Project Preparation Facility (IPPF) towards the cost of conducting the Feasibility Studies, Engineering Designs, Bidding documents and development of Legal Frameworks for the Malawi/Zambia and Mozambique/Malawi One Stop Border Posts. The One-Stop-Border Posts component is part of the Nacala Road Corridor Project that entails: Civil works for (a) Rehabilitation of Luangwa-Chipata-Mwami Border (360 km) in Zambia;

(b) Construction of the Lilongwe By-pass (13km) in Malawi; (c) Rehabilitation of Mangochi-Liwonde Junction Road (90km) in Malawi; (d) Upgrading of Nampula-Cuamba-Mandimba Road (510 km) in Mozambique.

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat acting for the Governments of Malawi, Mozambique and Zambiahereinafter now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing these services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may constitute joint-ventures to enhance their chances of qualification.

Eligibility criteria, establishment of the short-list and the selection procedure shall be in accordance with the African Development Bank’s “Rules and Procedures for the use of Consultants” [May 2008 Edition], which is available on the Bank’s website at http://www.afdb.org. Borrowers are under no obligation to shortlist any consultant who expresses interest.

Interested consultants may obtain further information at the address below during office hours 0800 to 1700 hours Monday to Friday.

The closing date for the submission of EOI is 3 May 2012 at 15:00 hours Botswana local time. LATE EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED



The EOI should be placed in the tender box at the address below by or before 15:00 hours on 3 May 2012 and must be clearly marked “MULTINATIONAL MALAWI/MOZAMBIQUE/ZAMBIA: Nacala Road Corridor Studies Feasibility Studies, Engineering Design, Bidding documents and development of Legal Frameworks for the Malawi/Zambia and Mozambique/Malawi One Stop Border Posts”.
