Principal / Senior Gender Adviser - European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)

From central Asia and the Western Balkans to the southern and eastern Mediterranean, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) supports projects whose funding needs cannot be fully met by the market. On projects we invest in across our 29 countries of operation, we are keen to boost the participation of women in the economy through our Gender Action Plan. Bring that plan to life.

About the role

Entering into the second phase of our Gender Action Plan, we are looking to scale up our activities. Joining the Gender Team that sits within the Environment and Sustainability Department, you shall develop a strategic approach to mainstreaming gender in all the Bank’s operations that will drive our efforts forward. With a view to enhance visibility and increase impact, you shall assess our current gender activities, recognise opportunities for further mainstreaming of gender and identify the need for research on gender issues pertinent to the Bank; drawing on this insight to implement gender awareness training where appropriate. We shall also look to you to manage events such as the Women in Business Awards Panel, as well as to encourage our employees and clients to address gender through the promotion of access to finance, service and employment opportunities; all in a bid to drive gender equality across all areas of the Bank and our investments.

About you

Along with an advanced degree in the social sciences and/or related subject and the specific gender equality experience outlined above, you shall need excellent project management, communication and interpersonal skills. Extensive experience of promoting gender equality and the economic empowerment of women is essential. While knowledge of banking and international financial institutions, together with experience of having worked in EBRD’s countries of operations, would also be an advantage.

About us

Owned by 61 countries, the EU and the European Investment Bank, the EBRD supports projects whose funding needs cannot be fully met by the market. We have operations in 29 countries from Central Europe to Central Asia, and we’re currently working on projects with a combined value of almost €180bn. Each project is unique, but they all share common goals of encouraging private investment and promoting secure and stable market economies.
