Research Manager: Drinking Water Treatment & Quality Management

Salary: R754 553 Cost to Company
(5-year contract)

This innovative thinker and self-starter should be in possession of at least a Master’s degree or equivalent, specialising in and having a strong understanding of advanced and appropriate drinking water processes (treatment, distribution, reuse and recycling), drinking water quality management and O&M aspects of the related fields, augmented by strong research and practical experience within the field. The successful candidate will have an understanding of related legislation. To be able to network, communicate and coordinate effectively, he/she should have strong project management as well as good interpersonal skills. The ability to integrate knowledge from diverse sources is essential for success.

The successful candidate will:
• Strategically manage and coordinate the portfolio of research programmes, projects and affiliated activities in drinking water treatment and quality management
• Provide direction and leadership, both nationally and internationally, within specified activity areas
• Facilitate the transfer and application of knowledge generated from the projects and other activities
• Lead the research thrusts, consisting of portfolios of research programmes and projects
• Assume responsibility for all facets of project management
• Contribute to the KSA’s business planning process and work closely with colleagues within the WRC
• Provide leadership and networking, both nationally and internationally, in the water-related activity area

Appointment will be made in line with the WRC’s employment equity policy. Remuneration will be negotiated on the basis of an all-inclusive flexible package on a 5-year contract.
