Senior Geological Technologist New Ventures Canada-Alberta-Calgary

Barrick Energy is a private oil and gas company currently producing about 10,000 boe/d (80% oil and liquids) in Western Canada. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Barrick Gold Corporation, the world's largest gold mining company, and as such has been well funded. Barrick Energy offers large company opportunities and resources, a long term view and a strong growth mandate combined with an entrepreneurial, smaller company work environment featuring diverse assets and people. Barrick Energy was formed in September 2008 when Barrick Gold acquired Cadence Energy (formerly Kereco Energy Ltd.) as part of a strategy to limit its exposure to rising energy costs in its mining business. Energy (mostly oil-related) accounts for roughly than 25% of Barrick's mining operating expenses. In addition to this "hedge" strategy, Barrick Gold sees strong potential to grow value in oil and gas development and production and supports the further growth of Barrick Energy.

Since early 2010, Barrick Energy has almost tripled in size, growing organically and through acquisitions. The company has eight core operating areas: Sturgeon Lake, Puskwa, Red Earth, Garrington, Valhalla North, Worsley, Killam, and Retlaw, all of which are oil-weighted. Seven of the eight are operated, high working interest assets. Barrick Energy has completed eight acquisitions subsequent to the initial purchase of Kereco Energy (also known as Cadence Energy) by Barrick Gold. Two transactions of these were executed in 2011. The Company's business strategy consists of a continued focus on maximizing the value of its base business through technical and operational excellence, investing in organic growth, and further growth through opportunistic acquisitions, all against a backdrop of industry leading standards and results with respect to health, safety, environmental protection, ethics and regulatory compliance. The current focus is on large oil-in-place pools in Western Canada; however, North American natural gas is expected to be of growing importance with increased use of gas in mining operations.

Barrick Energy Inc. has an immediate opening for Senior Geological Technologist New Ventures.
