Consultant, Evaluation of EDRI projects, Kenya

Adeso is seeking a qualified individual or a Consultancy team with specialties in evaluating Cash transfers, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH) and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) projects, to evaluate Adeso’s EMERGENCY DROUGHT RECOVERY INTERVENTION (EDRI I and EDRI II) projects in Garissa and Wajir Counties, North East Kenya. The consultancy is for a period of 30 days, beginning September 1st 2012 and will include desk review work, field data collection, data analysis, report writing and a presentation of the findings in Nairobi. Adeso encourages Consultancy firms or groups who can assign one consultant specialized in WASH and DRR, and one in Cash Transfers.

Research Consultancy on Gender, South Central Somalia

This is a 30-day consultancy assignment for the study on gender impact analysis of the emergency cash transfer interventions in South Central Somalia sponsored by the Cash Consortium for South Central Somalia. The main objectives of this study are:

  • To assess the changes and trends in gendered power relations, within households and in the community, as a result of the emergency Cash Transfer Programs (CTP); and
  • To review the processes followed by agencies in emergency CTP, and analyze their adequacy and appropriateness from a gender perspective.

Research Consultancy on Access to Credit, South Central Somalia

This is a 30-day consultancy assignment for the study on access to credit among beneficiaries in South Central Somalia. The main objectives of this study are:

  • To analyze and document existing practices around access to credit among beneficiaries in relation to types of credit systems (cash/in-kind), duration of credit and seasonality, credit volumes and existing repayment systems and interest rates, gender relations, conditionality to access credit by money lenders and type of actors involved in providing credit services.
  • To analyze and assess the impact of cash transfer program on local credit systems in the project areas, to document differences in existing practices in relation to rural and urban areas and differences in TFG and AS controlled areas, and review of emerging trends.
  • To explore the possible linkage of cash transfer program in emergency to credit systems and see the relationship of the same in building community resilience in relation to health groups, seasonality, humanitarian support and livelihood asset levels.

Peace Building & Gender Technical Advisor-Program Manager, Garowe and Puntland

The Peace Building & Gender Technical Advisor/Program Manager (PM) will be responsible for the overall project management, implementation and oversight of the project. The PM will manage and Coordinate Project teams in Puntland, Somalia, in the regions of Bari (Carmo), Mudug (Xarfo), Sool (Boocame), Sanaag (Badhan) and Garowe to promote women’s participation in peace and development efforts in Puntland. S/He will oversee the planning and implementation of all project activities and ensure that objectives are achieved.

Girls’ Education Challenge Monitioring, Evaluation, and Research Manager, Nairobi, Kenya

The Monitoring and Evaluation and Research Manager (MER) will be responsible for the project’s monitoring, research and evaluation function. The post holder will provide technical leadership and support to the development of comprehensive performance monitoring plans by GEC and its partners. These will in turn form the basis for data collection, ensuring data quality and integrity, analyzing indicator data, organizing monthly formative feedback sessions for project staff, and monitoring compliance with UKAID specified targets.

GEC Finance Manager, Nairobi, Kenya

The Finance Manager will be a full-time member of the GEC Program Team, working with the relevant units in the program headquarters, Adeso teams, and field staff. The main responsibilities will be the planning and coordination of the Finance Department’s activities by ensuring that the department has adequate resources to effectively undertake its activities. The Finance Manager will be part of the senior management team of the GEC Program and will ensure compliance with all Adeso and donor financial policies and guidelines at all levels.
