British Council Senior Adviser, Justice and Security

The Governance and Civil Society team is located in the Education and Society Strategic Business Unit of the British Council. The Senior Adviser, Justice and Security will be responsible for developing a growing client (mainly donor) funded business. This will be predominantly for justice, including access to justice, rule of law and relations with civil society. Candidates should have considerable experience of working in developing countries with a good understanding of security and stabilisation issues in fragile and conflict affected states. Our clients typically require us to guarantee a track record of a minimum 10 to 15 years’ relevant experience of these areas.

Key roles will be: to pursue new business opportunities; assure quality implementation; build strategic alliances with stakeholders in the UK and overseas; and to develop a strong associate network. Candidates should have a successful track record in the sector, be prepared to travel extensively and work within a global team.
