Chief of party Macedonia

Chemonics seeks a chief of party for the anticipated USAID Low Emissions Development and Clean Energy Investment Project in Macedonia. The project will aim to improve Macedonia's energy business environment, increase energy security, and help the government of Macedonia meet its climate change obligations. The project will focus on improving the legal and regulatory processes for investment in renewable energy projects and establishing action plans for low emissions development. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world​. Responsibilities include:
  • Provide overall program direction and oversee implementation of annual work plans
  • Manage and supervise advisors, including mentoring a local Macedonian professional to eventually become chief of party
  • Ensure the quality and timeliness of all project deliverables
  • Serve as principal liaison with USAID, the government of Macedonia, and stakeholders and counterparts in the public and private sectors
  • Review project financials and results
Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in environmental law, energy, business development, or a relevant field required
  • Minimum five years working in the energy regulatory environment
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant, progressively responsible experience in energy development projects and private-sector development
  • Minimum five years working in Macedonia, preferably in the energy regulatory sector
  • Previous senior leadership or chief of party experience on a USAID project
  • Successful experience managing complex energy investment projects, preferably in the Europe and Eurasia region
  • Experience in the Balkans peninsula preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English required; local Macedonian language proficiency preferred
