Coordinator, Knowledge Management (Temporary)

SUMMARY
IYF collaborates with a network of partner organizations, donors, and other stakeholders in the global youth development community and has produced a wealth of knowledge resources around programming for positive youth development. IYF plans to create an online knowledge management library that would connect all programs and the partner network to IYF’s best practices and lessons learned. IYF seeks to hire a Baltimore-based Knowledge Management Coordinator to assist program staff in gathering, organizing, and indexing knowledge resources. The position is temporary (6 months) but full-time. For more information see www.iyfnet.org.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review IYF’s existing Knowledge Management (KM) materials and become familiar with the current and planned library taxonomy.
  • Interview key program staff - headquarters and field – and interface with IYF partners to learn more about knowledge resources that have been produced, are being produced, and plan to be produced.
  • Create a document organizing and indexing these materials according to the KM taxonomy.
  • Gather KM materials from program staff, partners, and internal filing systems.
  • Develop a systematized method for filing materials based upon the taxonomy and instruct staff on how to properly save materials within the filing system and ensure that all saved materials are formatted for web use.
  • Communicate regularly with KM development team.
  • Prepare the documents for inclusion in a searchable digital library as time allows.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a field relevant to Knowledge Management and/or IYF’s mission and programs (Social Science, Economics, International Relations, Public Policy) plus 1-3 years of work experience required and Masters preferred.
  • Knowledge of youth and international development field desirable.
  • Knowledge of, or experience with, organizing and indexing information.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Fluency in a second language preferred.
  • Ability to identify and establish priorities, work independently, and exercise sound judgment related to providing support and assistance.
  • Ability to identify problems in a timely manner, make recommendations toward resolving problems.
  • Ability to work in a cross-cultural team and establish effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization. Possess outstanding interpersonal communication skills which must be effective and courteous, requiring high integrity when dealing with a broad array of cultures and languages
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).
  • Knowledge of, or experience with, database maintenance, database architecture, and uploading content helpful.
