The Copywriter will be responsible for researching, drafting, editing of Greenpeace Southeast Asia (GPSEA) written communication strategies across our new media, social networking, hard-copy print marketing and email programs. This role will work closely with the both the digital and grassroots teams within the Mass Mobilization department as well as Campaigns, Fundraising and Communications departments.

The focus of content produced will be about educating the public about GPSEA’s work in environmental protection and social justice and inspiring them to participate in online and local community activity.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Expertise written communication to a wide and diverse range of audiences

a. Build a growing bank of applied knowledge in written communication for the purposes of online and grassroots mobilization targeting current supporters, potential supporters and external stakeholders
b. Advise GPSEA on current and leading thinking around communications content and development strategies to inform campaign and project work.
c. Monitor, identify and report on trends, movements and other relevant issues in face to face and online spaces in terms of marketing and communications.

2. Design, develop and write content

a. Optimise the written content of GPSEAs website(s) to encourage and grow unique and repeat visits with bias towards encouraging action taking, sharing of content and donating; this can include sourcing and editing content from other Greenpeace offices, researchers, campaigners and media officers as well as authoring written content yourself.
b. Provide effective rapid response to unplanned situations in the form of audience tailored written communication through GPSEA website(s), blogs and other relevant online spaces.
c. Review, edit and translate, from English to in-country language, campaign and communications materials from other Greenpeace offices with a bias towards encouraging action, donation and sharing of content by supporters for our email programs and social networking programs in campaigns/projects
d. Collaborate with the grassroots team to produce written content for hard copy materials to be distributed to our activist, supporters and volunteer networks
e. Advice GPSEA of public interest issues which may be able to be capitalised on through our online presence to strengthen and grow our supporter base as well as our influence in public discourse.

3. Integration of programs

a. DATA: Collaborate on standardising methodology for data capture across face to face website and email programs.
b. OFFLINE: Integrate, where appropriate, grassroots organizing strategies with online organizing and social networking strategies for the purposes of external impact and internal strength building for GPSEA
c. MOBILE: Write, design, produce and optimize content website and email content for use on mobile platforms

d. CAMPAIGNS: Collaborate with Campaigns Department on the development of supporter focused content in the delivery of their campaigns
e. COMMUNICATIONS: ensuring GPSEA content synergy with our brand protocols, campaign messaging and other public communications.
f. FUNDRAISING: Integrate fundraising opportunities within online organizing and other mass mobilization.

3. Planning, Implementation and Evaluation

a. Contribute to GPSEA mass mobilization planning, implementation and ongoing evaluation and regularly update relevant senior staff.
b. Contributing to campaign and project team from the perspective of supporter engagement and campaign impact through GPSEA activity.
c. Build a culture of Praxis (theory – action – Reflection) across GPSEA and produce evaluations of activities on a regular basis.
d. Assist the MM Mangers on in Country planning days and mentor MM Training and Strategy Coordinators in planning, implementation and evaluation.
4. Project Management

a. Lead and implement projects, including representation of GPSEA at local, national or international where assigned by SMT or MM Manager
