Call for Part-Time Canadian Corporate Social Responsibility Advisor

The Andean Regional Initiative (ARI) – Promoting Effective Partnerships for Local Development

World University Service of Canada (WUSC) is a Canadian non-profit organization with a mission to foster human development and global understanding through education and training. We are professionals, students, volunteers, faculty, and community leaders working together to find solutions and provide opportunities to the world’s most marginalized people.

WUSC is seeking qualified candidates to submit as proposed members of a 4 year project team for a large CIDA funded project on Corporate Social Responsibility in Peru, Colombia and Bolivia.

Summary of the Project: “The Andean Regional Initiative (ARI) – Promoting Effective Partnerships for Local Development”

This project aims to improve the social and economic well-being of women and men in targeted communities of Bolivia, Colombia and Peru in areas of extractive industry activities. It will improve information-sharing, dialogue and collaboration on CSR among all stakeholders; increase the involvement of communities in sustainable development initiatives, within a CSR context; and improve implementation by regional and local governments of sustainable, community-driven development investments, in collaboration with the private sector. In so doing, it will play a strategic role in addressing development challenges in Bolivia, Colombia and Peru, by providing a platform for private sector, extractive companies, governments, professional associations, NGOs and communities to constructively partner to address common development challenges.

Specific Qualifications – Part-Time Canadian Corporate Social Responsibility Advisor

Education

Ideally, a Masters degree, otherwise a Bachelor degree, in social sciences, economics, business administration, environmental management, management of natural resources, geology or mining or petroleum engineering

Experience

- 10 years of experience, working in multi-year development projects on Corporate Social Responsibility, in the extractive sector for large ($5 million or more) projects
- 10 years of experience working with governments and the private sector in the areas of natural resource management and community development
- 8 years of experience, in conflict mitigation, consultation mechanisms, public participation and public-private partnerships
- 5 years of experience, in working with the private sector in development projects in the extractive sector
- 10 years of experience, in working in CSR project(s) in the extractive sector located in Canada

Others Skills

Experience using participatory and collaborative approaches, with multiple stakeholders (including the private sector),within
multidisciplinary teams

Experience using Results-Based Management principles and tools

Language Requirements

Must possess at least a level 4 in reading, writing and oral English, and must possess at least a level 3 in reading, writing and oral Spanish (the description associated with the language requirement can be found at the following website:
