Education and campaigns officer, Republic of Ireland

The post holder will expand and grow the Development Education work of Christian Aid within the formal and non-formal education sectors in the Republic of Ireland. The post holder will also promote and grow support for Christian Aid's key campaigns on international issues, across a wide range of arenas in the Republic of Ireland. The post holder will engage and recruit new campaigners, assist with developing campaigns messages appropriate for use in the Republic of Ireland and, working with the Education and Campaigns Co-ordinator, will adapt Development Education resources for schools in the Republic of Ireland.

You will need a relevant degree or equivalent; preferably an educational sector qualification; and knowledge and understanding of the diversity of church schools and their churches in Ireland. Knowledge of global development issues. Knowledge of and commitment to work with the range of churches and church schools with which Christian Aid works.

Professional or voluntary experience in the Development Education sector. Experience of campaigning and good campaigning skills. Database interrogation skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience of supervising and supporting volunteers. Experience of working with youth groups and/or their leaders. Experience of organising events for young people, students and youth leaders. Good organisational skills with an ability to organise own workload and work on own initiative.

Ability to work effectively with a wide range of people to achieve multiple outcomes, including volunteers, colleagues, educational professionals, and sectoral colleagues.

Car driver is essential for this post as travel within the Republic of Ireland is anticipated.
