ICLEI is the world’s largest association of cities and local governments dedicated to sustainable development. ICLEI is a powerful movement of 12 mega-cities, 100 super-cities, 450 large cities and urban regions as well as 650 small and medium-sized cities and towns in 80 countries.
ICLEI promotes local action for global sustainability and supports cities to become sustainable, resilient, resource-efficient, biodiverse, low-carbon; to build a smart infrastructure; and to develop an inclusive, green urban economy with the ultimate aim is to achieve healthy and happy communities.
ICLEI´s Global Climate Program focuses on three main action areas; mitigation, adaptation and advocacy. ICLEI also acts as the focal point of local government and municipal authorities constituency at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and Bonn Center
for Local Climate Action and Reporting (carbonn®) that operates the carbonn Cities Climate Registry (cCCR).

To enrich our team, we are searching for two experts in the following fields and plan to define the precise job portfolios later according to the available expertise and experiences:
Low Carbon Technologies and Urban Infrastructure Officer
– energy technology, urban infrastructure, and project management
The successful candidate(s) will be a part of the international team of the Cities Climate Center at the ICLEI World Secretariat based in Bonn, Germany that will be managing carbonn® and implementing a multi-annual project focusing on promotion of low emission urban development
strategies in cities of emerging economies.
Candidate Experience: Qualified candidates will have experience in several of the following areas:
- Project management experience (3-5 years): management of international, multi-partner projects in emerging economies (in particular projects with a budget above €1M) and management of internationally located or external teams, candidates should include
reference documents regarding previous experience (e.g. project description or project report with application materials)
- Practical experience with greenhouse gases compilation, analysis and reporting for local authorities – Candidates should provide a list of all GHG accounting and reporting systems with which they have worked or are familiar
- Practical experience with global protocols and accounting standards for greenhouse gases emissions at corporate/public entity or national level
- Candidates should provide a

- Direct experience in the area of urban infrastructure (transport, building and construction, waste management etc.) and energy technologies (waste to energy models, grid systems, renewable solutions, etc.)
- At least two (2) years of work in urban climate change mitigation
Candidate Qualifications:
? A university degree in engineering, environmental science / technology, urban infrastructure, urban development or business administration. A relevant Master´s degree is an asset.
? Strong skills in analytical thinking, reporting, and planning, and report writing
? Creative and pro-active team member
? Proficiency in office software, databases and internet applications
? Fluency in written and spoken English required; proficiency in Hindu, Bahasa Indonesian, Portuguese and/or German is an asset
Terms and Conditions:
The position is available from 1 October 2012. The position will be hired for two years with the possibility of extension.
International travel will be required. Communication with partners around the world may require work during unusual hours.
