OI Country Director - Tegucigalpa, Honduras

OI Country Director Honduras
USD 51,667 – USD 79,200 net per annum plus benefits
Tegucigalpa, Honduras

Tackling the root causes that make Honduras the third poorest country in Latin America, Oxfam’s development work here is hugely important. But to effect real change in a challenging and politically sensitive environment, we need strong, cohesive leadership. Be the one to deliver it.

The role
Providing the strategic direction for an integrated approach across our programmes in Honduras, you’ll see to it that we progress forward with the implementation of our new Single Management Structure (SMS) and move closer to a ‘One Oxfam’ approach, ensuring we work together to deliver effective and efficient programme that has as wide an impact as possible. You’ll also lead the development of a long-term vision and strategy for the country. That means carrying out strategic analysis, planning for the country programme and ensuring Oxfam have the capacity to respond to humanitarian emergencies. It also means taking a proactive, joined-up approach to identifying and negotiating new funding opportunities and partnerships. As you would expect, you’ll have responsibility for the leadership of the Country Management Team and delivering the highest standards of programme management, HR, financing, security and disaster preparedness. More than this you’ll also have line-management responsibility for the Oxfam GB programme and team. It’s a challenging, high-profile role. One where you’ll deliver tangible change for Honduras’s poorest people.

What we’re looking for
An experienced and results-driven senior manager, you’ll have proven your ability to lead the development and delivery of programme strategy. You’ll therefore know all about motivating multidisciplinary, often geographically remote, teams and be well-versed in everything from fundraising and financial management to security and risk. Beyond that, you’ll be adept at analysing the factors driving poverty, marginalisation and vulnerability in the developing world. Influential, a strong negotiator and fluent in Spanish and English, you’ll be confident representing Oxfam GB to partners, government agencies, the private sector and donors, both locally and internationally. In fact, thinking strategically, you’ll be able to see the impact your decisions have on the global stage. And you’ll have the political judgement, self-awareness and initiative to do it all in a complex and challenging location.

Rewards and benefits
In addition to the excellent salary, which is paid net with Oxfam meeting your tax liabilities, there is also an attractive benefits package on offer which includes accommodation and relocation support, pension, medical cover, insurances and generous annual leave, with flights home.

About Oxfam
A simple, inescapable truth underlines everything we do at Oxfam. There’s enough wealth in this world to go around. It’s not unfortunate that people live in poverty. It’s unjustifiable. It’s not just their problem. It’s ours too. And with the right support, we can beat poverty and injustice. Thousands of people already commit their time and talents to our campaigning, humanitarian and long-term development projects. Now we’re looking for yours.
