Reports to: Team Lead Corporate Governance and Internal Policies

SECTION 1 — POSITION SUMMARY

Position Objective:

Design, implement, maintain and enhance the ESM Operational Risk Management Framework.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Design the operational risk management framework for the organization:
    • Develop and upgrade operational risk policies, guidelines and directives;
    • Establish the method for identifying and assessing risks: classification, level of description, listing the financial impact, mitigation and the level of control;
    • Contribute to identifying the source of operational risk in business processes;
    • Establish, in consultation with the respective business functions, the cartography of operational risks.
  • Implement plans for operational risk control:
    • Call for the implementation of action plans for operational risk management;
    • Ensure, through analysis, the relevance of the action plans;
    • Alert in case of non-efficient action plans.
  • Operational risk monitoring and reporting:
    • Provide clear and concise operational risk reports and statistics to internal and external stakeholders;
    • Establish the dashboard: determining the relevant indicators and methods of calculation/reporting;
    • Contribute to the construction of an information system: development of a database of incidents, determining the process of capturing data into existing systems, etc.;
    • Build, maintain and strengthen partnering with business functions to collect, aggregate and report risk information;
    • Perform quality control on risk report content and ensure clear communication of underlying risks.
  • Continuous improvement:
    • Monitor, evaluate and challenge the organization’s success in managing its operational risks;
    • Make proposals to improve the coverage of operational risks and action plans;
    • Contribute-to the optimization of business processes;
    • Preparation and upgrade of operational risk training and education material.
  • Advice and support other functions on operational risk:
    • Support functions with operational risk management methodology;
    • Conduct ad hoc studies;
    • Perform market surveillance on risk related topics and regulations.

Main interactions with other functions/external entities:

  • Frequent interaction with risk team;
  • Frequent interaction with all personnel within the organization (Heads of Departments and teams).

SECTION 2 — REQUIRED KEY SKILL SET AND PREFERRED PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

KEY SKILL SET:

  • Expertise of functioning of financial institution and experience in financial sector institution;
  • Expertise in compliance, audit, risk control or operational risk functions;
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills, to be able to inform and persuade both orally and in writing;
  • Persistence, an eye for detail and ability to complete projects and keep to deadlines (in respect of risk reporting).

SECTION 3 — FORMAL QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Very good academic degree at a top university; Qualification with a specialized institutions is considered an asset;
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in risk management/control, compliance, audit or business support/management role within the financial services industry;
  • Skilled and experienced in IT Risk and IT Security;
  • Fluent (spoken and written) in English and either French or German;
  • Any other language skills are considered an asset.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Years of experience required for the position:

2+ years in a relevant position
4+ years in a leading Financial Institution
