Project Coordinator Invisible Children

The Project Coordinator will oversee the implementation of the HF Early Warning Radio Network in southeastern CAR. In addition to this primary function, the Project Coordinator will assist in the secondary functions of in-country registration, management of support staff, and supporting expansion of community-run FM stations.

Operational Tasks/ Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the implementation of the HF Early Warning Radio Network in CAR; with program support from IC DRC and logistical support from IC Uganda (ICU), ensure the successful formation of Local Protection Committees (CLPs) and implementation of HF radios in designated communities across the LRA-affected southeast
  • Work with regional actors to ensure tax exoneration for entirety of HF project
  • Solidify MOUs with local implementing partners, establishing roles in project
  • Work with IC DRC to procure equipment from designated local suppliers
  • Coordinate with air carriers as necessary to transport all equipment for deployment in the field
  • Establish Obo as regional for the CAR HF Network; initiate system of compensation for radio operator and technician at the Obo hub for first year of project
  • Travel to each location with the technician and Obo hub operator to ensure successful implementation and technical training of operators
  • Facilitate training for CLPs, ensuring high community participation, information sharing, and ownership; ensure high levels of participation by CLPs and operators at each site
  • Register Invisible Children as an NGO in Bangui and register projects at the Ministry level
  • Pursue opportunities for FM expansion in the region to promote community sensitization and peaceful defection of LRA combatants through ‘Come Home’ messaging
  • Work with local partner FM associations and regional contractors to expand FM coverage at designated projects in the region
  • Manage support staff and relationships with key partners
  • Ensure baseline data collection and continued monitoring and evaluation of CAR projects in conjunction with support staff in DRC and Uganda
  • Assist in the identification of new projects and investments that meet the strategic objectives of the organization in advancing civilian protection, supporting rehabilitation for victims, and encouraging peaceful defection of LRA combatants

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience in a field-based post; experience in central Africa and/or sub-Saharan Africa in conflict or post-conflict environments preferred
  • Prior experience working on LRA issues preferred
  • Degree in related field
  • Experience managing projects, budgets and support staff
  • Experience in DDR or protection issues preferred
  • Fluency in French and English

Requirements:

  • International driving permit and ability to drive a manual vehicle and motorcycle
  • Frequent travel to remote regions

Position Details:
