Project Officer ActionAid (Netherlands)

ActionAid (Netherlands) works together with Africans to end poverty and injustice in Africa (Sub- Saharan) by promoting fair and sustainable use of the continent’s natural resources. As the Netherlands and Europe exert influence on developments in Africa, campaigning and advocacy are an important ingredient of ActionAid’s work. Furthermore, ActionAid is actively involved in alliances or networks in Africa in the area of natural resources/extractives and women’s land rights. ActionAid in
the Netherlands is a member of the ActionAid International Federation, currently consisting of 43 members in as many countries.

To replace staff on maternity leave, ActionAid is looking for a Project Officer (36 hours/week for a period of approx. 5 months)

We are looking for an experienced Project Officer who will contribute to the effective management of
MFS-II funded activities and related initiatives.

Specific tasks include:
- Project management of Fair, Green and Global (FGG) Alliance activities in Kenya, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia. This includes support to partners with project management, planning, monitoring and reporting.
- Monitoring and sharing key developments in these countries of relevance to ActionAid and partners
- Financial management support to partners with financial reporting and audits for FGG
activities
- Preparation of new funding proposals as requested
- Participation in relevant ActionAid working groups and external activities as requested

Requirements:
- Solid project management skills (minimum of 3-4 years), including experience with financial aspects
- Good knowledge of ActionAid (Netherlands) themes and issues: land & extractives, human rights and specifically women’s rights
- Attention to detail
- Very good communication skills in both English and Dutch (also in writing)
- Diplomacy, tact and cross-cultural sensitivity
