Rwanda Ministry of Health National Coordinator

The Ministry of Health is seeking to recruit a National Coordinator for the survey on non communicable diseases and risk factors over a 10-months period. This cross-sectional population-based survey will cover all 30 districts of the country. The overall objective is to assess the magnitude of risk factors of selected Non-Communicable Diseases in the Rwandan population using the MOH STEPS wise approach to NCDs surveillance.

1. Tasks/role

  • Connecting with district administration authorities, the STEPs coordinating team, WHO country representative and other stakeholders
  • Ensuring survey implementation in the field adheres to the survey protocol
  • Supervising the data entry process with appropriate attention to data qual¬ity
  • Coordinating data analysis with support from technical experts
  • Planning and preparing for future surveys
  • Updating the technical team and thestegringsammittce_of the NCDs study led by the Ministry of Health

2. Skills and attributes of the coordinator

  • Good written and oral communication skills in ENGLISH, FRENCH, and
  • Kinyarwanda
  • Experience conducting at least one large-scale nationally representative cross-sectional survey, prospective cohort study, randomized controlled trial, or other complex study design in a developing country context
  • Current knowledge of Rwanda Ministry of Health, public health institutions
  • and procedures involved in STEPS
  • Ability to chair meetings of the STEPS Coordinating Committee
  • Good understanding of the philosophy and objectives of the STEPS risk factor surveillance process.

3. Qualification

The coordinator must have a medical degree (MD or PhD in Public health), and at least a master´s in public health, epidemiology or any other relevant social science and relevant experience in practice or research in the area of public health.
