Senior Advisor - Talent Management Australia

Ten of Barrick’s mining operations are found within the Australia Pacific region, with its regional head office located in Perth, Western Australia.
The Senior Advisor, Talent Management works within the Human Resources Department and reports to the Regional Manager, Talent Management and Development for the Australia-Pacific Regional Business Unit. The primary responsibility of this position is to advise internal clients on Barrick’s talent management processes and systems and assist with the development of strategies that drive the achievement of business objectives through maximising human potential.
Key responsibilities:
  • Assist in the management of the regional talent management process, including: talent management outcomes, individual development plans and succession planning.
  • Execute relevant assessment models for career planning and development purposes.
  • Conduct needs analysis and implement specific development initiatives.
  • Train users and provide support in Talent Management systems.
  • Implement metrics for quality measurement of the Talent Management process.
  • Succession / bench strength analysis and reporting and development of strategies to address.
  • Turnover analysis and monitoring of trends to determine focus areas to support Talent Management strategies.
  • Development and tracking of internal talent pools.
  • Integration of the Talent Management process with other HR Systems and processes.
  • Management of employee engagement surveys including analysis of results and suggested actions.
  • Marketing and networking with educational and other relevant institutions.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Human Resources, Business, I/O Psych, Social Sciences or equivalent required.
  • Further qualifications to Masters level in an appropriate discipline will be an advantage.
  • Recent relevant Talent Management / HR / Learning & Development experience within the resources and/or heavy industry / manufacturing sector is essential.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of organisation development, HR or training strategies to address business needs is required.
  • Success will also depend on business acumen and the ability to act as an internal consultant.
In addition, the successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a proven track record of dealing with complex situations, high level problem solving and influencing skills, as well as good leadership and project management skills.
The role is Perth-based with approximately 10%—30% travel expected within Australia, Papua New Guinea, Zambia and Saudi Arabia.
