Barrick (Granny Smith) Pty Ltd is located 950kms north east of Perth and 23kms south of Laverton and has been one of Australia’s leading gold producers for the last 15 years. With continued growth in our underground mining operations and an exciting exploration portfolio, the projected mine life is 8 years based on the current reserves.
We are seeking an Underground Geotechnician to join the Granny Smith Geology team. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Geologist and will be required to perform the following duties:
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Undertake face mapping and sampling of every ore cut and ensure data is available daily for communication and reporting.
  • Monitor and direct drives where applicable to maintain best possible contact while maintaining suitable development pillars within the mine.
  • Input all geology and channel sample data from face mapping into acQuire database daily. All samples to be submitted within a 12hr period.
  • Input all face mapping data into MineMapper within a 7 day period
The successful applicant should have the following qualifications/skills:
  • Basic understanding of underground mapping and sampling techniques.
  • Basic understanding of geotechnical parameters
  • Certificate III in Mining (Geoscience Practices)
  • Certificate II in Geoscience Field Practices
  • Recognized tertiary qualifications in Geology or the equivalent
  • 1 to 2 years post qualification experience in underground production geology.

The operation is fly in/fly out from Perth on an 8 days on, 6 days off roster. Excellent on-site accommodation is provided. Recreational facilities include Foxtel, a swimming pool, tennis court and gymnasium.
