Barrick Kanowna has a strong presence in the Eastern-Goldfields of Western Australia centred around the city of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. The Kanowna operation processes 2 million tonnes of refractory and free milling ore per annum from three underground mines in the region. It has significant exploration lease holdings and is one of the largest employers in the area.
The Position:
The Mine Planning Engineer provides mine planning, designs and technical support to optimise the mine operations, enabling the business to meet its long and short term objectives in terms of production and cost.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that development planning incorporates the short, medium and long term planning requirements
  • Help to identify strategies to optimize mining process with a view to increasing mine production
  • Assist with the delivery of continuous improvement targets and monitor the achievement of these targets.
  • Providing engineering advice, designs and costs for budget and SBP to management team;
  • Planning for future mining of the reserve, to ensure it is accessed in the most effective way
Position Requirements:
  • 4 years mining experience
  • Degree in Mining Engineering
  • Understanding of Backfill systems/Paste fill
  • Basic Geotechnical systems/methodology
  • General Mine 2-4d and Mine CAD skills
