Community Relations Manager , Tanzania


The School of St Jude is a charity funded school that provides a FREE, high-quality education to over 1,600 primary and secondary children from the poorest communities in Arusha.
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated volunteer to join our Management Team as the Community Relations Manager. This role will require you to be the senior liaison between our donor and sponsors relations and business and academic departments.
The Community Relations Manager will have to work closely with all departments, so we are looking for a skilled communicator who can effectively manager relationships and communications across our internal and external stakeholders.  
A minimum commitment of at least two years is required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Donor Relations and Sponsor Relations teams
  • Define best practice for the engagement and management of donor and sponsor communications
  • Seek continuous improvement of internal operational functions including streamlining tasks and developing efficiencies
  • Establish and maintain structured systems that will outlast changes in staff to ensure relations with visitors, sponsors and donors are continued at the highest level
  • Serve as the senior liaison between donor and sponsor relations, academic leadership and business departments (including academic, visitor, marketing, finance and human resources)
  • Develop and maintain systems to ensure future sustainability for a Tanzanian administration

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:

  • At least 5 years experience in a supervisory/management role in a fundraising, marketing or similar environment in an NGO Organisation
  • Superior written and oral communication skills. Proven ability to write in a variety of formats and demonstrated ability to communicate with confidence at all levels of the organisation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Mature ability to form and nurture relationships at all levels of the organisation and with key stakeholders. Seasoned team player – able to build and lead teams and to contribute as a team member.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and management skill-sets. Proven ability to plan, prioritize and assign work, solve problems and make effective decisions; managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Advanced competencies in the development and implementation of communication strategies.
  • Highly self-motivated and a desire to contribute to the continual success of the school
  • Experience and a commitment to training staff of mixed nationalities, focusing on a sustainable Tanzanian administration for the future
  • Experience with customer or donor databases and strong PC Skills (MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint a must)
  • Highly ethical with a positive, energetic and goal orientated attitude

Living Allowance:
