Finance Manager Job in Arusha , Tanzania


The School of St Jude is a charity funded school that provides a FREE high quality education to approximately 1600 primary and secondary children from the poorest communities in Arusha. Additionally, the school now provides employment to over 400 Tanzanians and purchases the essential goods required to run the school everyday from local people. The ripple effect is incredibly wide spread.
St Jude's has experienced rapid growth and is currently strengthening its management structure. Therefore, we are seeking applications for the role of Finance Manager. The Finance Manager is responsible for managing and further developing the financial systems for our school and manages a team of six personnel. This exciting role is ideal for the more experienced qualified financial professional with management experience who is now able to take time out and looking for their next challenge.

A minimum commitment of at two years is required. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning, budgeting, management reporting, preparation of the annual financial accounts, forecasting and fixed asset management, with a 'hands on approach'
  • Improving our finance and support function policies, systems and procedures
  • Advise in regards to legal ans statutory matters
  • Continue to develop the basic accounting and financial management skills of the local staff, building confidence and instilling s strong sense of direction amount the team
  • Participate with other department managers in decision making processes affecting the functioning of the school

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:

  • A degree in Accounting or similar discipline
  • Experience in a Finance Management position
  • Proficiency in Quick Books and other accounting software would be desirable
  • Possess patience, tolerance and practicality whilst being efficient
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and execute taks in a challenging environment

Living Allowance:
