Training Coordinator AngloGold Ashanti (AGA)


AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) is the world's third largest gold producer with 20 operations in 10 countries on four continents. AGA employs over 62,000 people globally.  In Australia, AGA operates the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine and is developing the Tropicana Gold Mine in which it has a 70% interest and is manager.  Independence Group NL holds the remaining 30%.  The Sunrise Dam and Tropicana operations are both situated in WA.
Tropicana represents the most significant Australian gold discovery of the last decade.  The new, large scale open pit gold mining operation will produce 3.45 million ounces over a 10 year mine life (approved project).  Construction began in 2011 and first gold is anticipated in the December quarter of 2013.
We are now seeking an experienced Training Coordinator to join our Safety team at the Tropicana Gold Mine.
Accountable to the Safety Manager, this role is accountable for the Coordination of the Training Management system. This role is based on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth or Kalgoorlie.
The main tasks of the role include but are not limited to;
  • Coordinating all Corporate, Project and Role specific training across the Tropicana gold mine
  • Design, develop & implement the site Training Management Plan
  • Develop and maintain the Training Needs Analysis for all competencies & courses for all roles in the departments across the site
  • Schedule and coordinate internal and external training and assessment outcomes aligned to the approved Training Plans in a timely manner
  • Validate records management , verify completed training and assessment tools and ensure all records of evidence are uploaded accurately into the training data base (InTuition) data base
  • Set up InTuition data base to reflect accurate role / competency clusters
  • Formulate & distribute Training Plans for each department /crew /individuals on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Ensure all training and assessment tools are aligned and mapped to the relevant national units of competency from the RII09 Resources and Infrastructure industry training package;
  • Contribute to monthly reports & training performance reports as required;
  • Conduct and participate in internal and external audits of the site Training Management System
The ideal candidate will possess:
  • A sound knowledge of the Western Australian mining Acts and Regulations, and the Australian Quality Training Framework
  • Training and assessor qualifications
  • A Safety training background with a minimum 4 years' experience in a similar role
  • High level of computer skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with a number of teams across the business
  • Current WA Drivers Licence
