Financial Coordinator

We are registered in The Netherlands and our International Secretariat is located in the international capital of peace and justice: The Hague. The secretariat is run by an international team and includes interns and occasional volunteers.
In keeping with our values, UNOY is governed by a youth led Board, and the member organisations can exercise influence over the network through the International Steering Group. The management of the network is done on the basis of shared leadership between the International Network & Programme Coordinator and the International Secretariat & Outreach Coordinator that make up the Management Team.

Description of the position – Financial Coordinator

Purpose of the position

  • Ensuring sound financial administration of and reporting on UNOY funds, including providing support to budgeting, ensuring efficient bookkeeping and timely financial reporting and archiving of UNOY's projects.
  • Providing all relevant support for the annual financial and accounting reports

Position in the organisation

  • The Financial Coordinator is accountable to the International Secretariat and Outreach Coordinator (ISOC).

Result areas

Bookkeeping:
  • Ensure all UNOY financial transactions are registered in the bookkeeping system
  • Provide quarterly financial updates to the ISOC and provide financial overviews of running projects of UNOY upon management request.
  • Control cashbox and draft quarterly reports
Annual financial reporting:
  • Provide all relevant material and information for the annual accounts and maintain contacts with the auditor concerning the preparation of these financial reports.
Project budgeting:
  • Check proposed budgets of projects with the financial year plans and donor requirements and ensure that budgets fit financial boundaries set by the Board.
Payments:
  • Execute payments, electronically and in cash
  • Control payments by MT members according to policy documents
  • Draft letters on financial matters for staff and the Board

Profile

  • Age preferably below 35.
Knowledge
  • Relevant degree in finance, accounting, business administration or similar. 
  • Sound knowledge of bookkeeping and financial reporting principles, methodology and software
Experience
  • Three year proven work experience in a similar organization with similar responsibilities
Skills
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Working language proficiency in English. Dutch, French and/or Spanish is an asset.

Salary:
0,6 FTE Gross Salary: € 860 – 960 monthly (approximately) depending on education and experience. UNOY Peacebuilders covers work related travel expenses within the Netherlands
This is a part-time (0,6 FTE) position.
