The Organisation
We are committed to maximising the exploration and production potential in Europe E&P. We are currently integrating our BG Norge and UK Upstream assets to better support a future of growth and investment in the area. This will deliver a more sustainable future and robust business proposition for Europe E&P, as well as enhanced development opportunities for individuals across the combined teams. With a joint portfolio producing over 100 kboe/ day, our goal is to continue building a truly excellent Exploration and Production business in Europe E&P.
Position Summary
  • The Business Planning Manager is a member of the Finance Leadership Team responsible for delivering strategic direction, business direction and oversight of investment proposals.
  • The post holder will provide expert advice to the Europe E&P leadership team, and ensure functional excellence through adherence to best practice in business planning.
  • It is responsible for the management of all forecasting and planning activities in the asset, and also for the setting, monitoring and presentation of asset performance against these targets and key performance indicators.
  • The role will demonstrate active participation in framing the asset’s delivery targets and provide key decision making information for asset, Region and Group management for the Europe E&P business.
Key Accountabilities

Manage the plan and forecast processes across all areas of the business, including:
  • cross-functional management and process mapping
  • synchronisation of asset data flows in to forecasts and plans
  • ensuring cross-functional alignment and data integrity
  • enabling highly efficient consolidation and validation of inputs
  • securing asset leadership engagement, involvement and accountability
  • providing expert interpretation and presentation of results
  • providing facilitation of asset leadership and regional reviews
  • actively managing and influencing challenges from Group
  • ensuring the asset strategic themes, value base, and key enablers of plan delivery are understood
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute

  • Qualified accountant
  • Oil and gas accounting expertise in an operator environment
  • A thorough understanding of the E&P gas & oil chain
  • To have achieved results through a broad sphere of influence
  • To have demonstrated initiative and the implementation of new ways of working
  • Sound knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Understanding of the E&P supply chain and current industry challenges
  • Understanding of petroleum economics
  • Appreciation of the processes and contribution of the operations, projects, subsurface and economics functions
  • Thoroughly conversant with BG Group and asset strategy
  • Familiarity with group-wide systems such as SAP, BPC, BI
