Policy and Advocacy Coordinator

TASKS
  •  Coordinate the work of the chapter involving the different colleagues on the concerned areas;
  •  Strategically plan and implement advocacy actions towards supporting and advocating for stronger youth organisations
  •  Coordinate the institutional relations of the European Youth Forum with the Council of Europe, support the Forum's working structures in this field, and ensure effective advocacy on the matters of interest for the European Youth Forum
  •  Organise and run international meetings, seminars, debates, training and networking events;
  •  Monitor and report on developments in the relevant policy areas;
  •  Research and draft policies, briefing papers and reports;
  •  Write articles for internal and external European Youth Forum publications and other communication channels;

PROFILE OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
  •  A university degree in law, political science, social science, or other relevant field is strongly desirable but can be compensated by extensive relevant NGO and/or non-formal education experience;
  •  Strategic thinking and advocacy capacity towards institutions and other partners
  •  Sensitivity to youth policy issues and a good knowledge of the European Union institutions and the Council of Europe
  •  Background and experience in NGO work is preferable
  •  Ability to research, collate, analyse and summarise information
  •  Experience with working in a multicultural environment
  •  Experience in organisational development and sustainability
  •  Ability to coordinate a team of people
  •  Capacity to multi-task and co-ordinate several projects simultaneously, demonstrating excellent time management and organisational skills
  •  Advanced level in spoken and written English, knowledge of French is a strong asset, knowledge of other languages appreciated
  •  Computer literacy, with good working knowledge of word processing, e-mail and internet applications. Open Office knowledge is appreciated.
  •  Ability to travel and to work flexible hours and on weekends, when required
  • Ability to live in Brussels or the surrounding area
TERMS OF THE CONTRACT
The duration of the contract is five years, with a trial period of six months. The contract is full time (35 hours per week) and the gross monthly salary (for a SP1 position according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement currently applied at the European Youth Forum) is 3008,25 Euro. A relocation package, hospitalisation insurance and other benefits are available. Travel expenses within the Brussels region are covered by the European Youth Forum.
