VALIDATION ANALYST (6 POSTS)

The National Energy Regulator (NERSA) is a regulatory authority established as a juristic person in terms of Section 3 of the National Energy Regulator Act, 2004 (Act No 40 of 2004). NERSA’s mandate is to regulate the electricity, piped-gas and petroleum pipeline industries in terms of the Electricity Regulation Act, 2006 (Act No 4 of 2006), Gas Act, 2001 (Act No 48 of 2001) and Petroleum Pipelines Act, 2003 (Act No 60 of 2003). The structure of the Energy Regulator consists of nine members, five of whom are part-time and four are full-time, including the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The Energy Regulator is supported by a secretariat under the direction of the CEO. The Energy Regulator wishes to recruit personnel with appropriate competencies in the following areas:
VALIDATION ANALYST (6 POSTS)
(1-year fixed-term contract)

Department: Electricity Pricing and Tariffs (EPT)
Package: R282 590.21 per annum • (Ref. HR 048)

Requirements: â€¢ A diploma or degree in Economics/Finance with Accounting or Statistics as major subjects plus 2 years’ experience • Knowledge of the electricity industry and municipal financial systems • A valid driver’s licence.
Candidates must be competent in the following: â€¢ Analytical skills • Communication (verbal and written) skills • Knowledge of MS Office package (Excel and Word) and Outlook • Report writing • Negotiation • Project management • Interpersonal skills • Time management.

Key responsibilities: Reporting to the Head of Department: Electricity Pricing and Tariffs, the successful candidate will: • Assist Information Resources Management (IRM) in following up on municipalities that have been identified as struggling and requiring assistance • Visit and temporarily be stationed at municipalities that may have indicated lack of resources as their main challenge for non-completion of D-Forms • Gather all relevant information from municipalities and assist them to complete the D-Forms • Ensure consistency in the data provided and captured by licensees • Verify the information captured for correctness • Work in close relation with the respective Analysts in the Electricity Pricing and Tariffs department to ensure that necessary guidance is offered and that the process for each municipality is signed off at the end • Liaise with IRM on the collection of the D-Forms • Validate the D-Form information for tariff approval.
