Chief of party , Colombia

Chemonics seeks a chief of party for the anticipated four-year USAID-funded Civil Society Strengthening Activity in Colombia to strengthen the capacity and accountability of civil society organizations (CSOs). The project aims to assist CSOs to strengthen their organizational capacity and become better enabled to effectively advocate, monitor, and provide services. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. 

Responsibilities include:​​
  • Provide overall project leadership, management, and technical direction 
  • Serve as key liaison with USAID, government counterparts, and local partners 
  • Manage and supervise the work of project personnel and subcontractors 
  • Ensure that all project assistance is technically sound and appropriate 
  • Collaboratively create and implement a strategic, long-term programmatic vision 
  • Oversee project work planning, performance management, and strategic communications
Qualifications: 
  • Advanced degree in law, social work, political science, public or business administration, international relations, or related field required
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a progressively more responsible position,​ with at least three years as a chief of party or project director
  • USAID experience preferred 
  • Experience interacting with government agencies, host-county governments and counterparts, international donor agencies, and the private sector
  • Strong interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills 
  • Familiarity with the political, social, and cultural context in Colombia a plus 
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity 
  • Fluency in Spanish and English required
