We need a Senior Project Leader in Islamabad, Pakistan
Agricultural Innovation Program (AIP) is a new USAID-supported Agricultural Research for Development program to promote economic growth and food security in Pakistan through improved technologies and management practices. AIP is a US$30 million (over 4 years) consortium managed by CIMMYT. Its objective is to increase productivity and production of livestock, vegetables, horticulture crops and cereals focusing on resource-poor farmers. It includes a portfolio of cereal / cereal system projects.
Reporting to CIMMYT’s Global Wheat Program Director, you will coordinate AIP through primary partners and component leaders from ILRI, AVRDC, IRRI, PARC, UC Davis and CIMMYT. For full job profile visit: www.cimmyt.org/en/who-we-are/job-opportunities
Main responsibilities:
  • Provide high-level vision and leadership
  • Manage sub-grants to engage primary partners to execute AIP portfolio
  • Liaise with USAID, PARC, other partners and stakeholders
  • Coordinate fi nancial and technical management of the project
  • Develop annual work plans and oversee their implementation including communications, gender and M&E needs of USAID and CIMMYT
  • Ensure high-quality reporting to USAID-Islamabad and DC
The ideal candidate will have:
  • PhD or MSc in a discipline related to agricultural systems / research and development
  • 15 years’ experience in agricultural research or development (5 years as a Project Leader)
  • Ability to develop a common vision and strategy and communicate widely
  • High level of Leadership skills
  • Experience in working with USAID/similar partners
  • Experience in managing large, multi-institutional AR4D, agricultural value chain, agribusiness or rural development projects in the developing world
  • Experience in managing complex M&E for USAID / similar projects
  • Commitment to improve gender equity and female empowerment
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Passion to work and live in Pakistan
